Walter Romano was born in 1956 in Fukuoka, Japan. He grew up in Smithtown, New York and moved to Houston, Texas in 1978.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Romano worked as a police officer for thirteen years. In 1992, he was recognized by The 100 Club of Houston as one of their Police Officers of the Year. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant before resigning to attend law school.

Mr. Romano attended the University of Houston Law Center. He was a member of the Houston Journal of International Law. Mr. Romano obtained his Juris Doctorate in May 1996. He graduated magna cum laude and was a recipient of The Order of the Coif.

After graduating law school, Mr. Romano served a one-year term as Briefing Attorney for Chief Justice William J. Cornelius with the Sixth Court of Appeals in Texarkana, Texas.

Before joining Killeen & Stern, Mr. Romano practiced law in Dallas and Houston. He handles both civil litigation and criminal defense cases. His civil experience includes commercial litigation, contract disputes, personal injury, product liability, employment issues and wrongful discharge matters. His criminal cases include white collar crimes, MARPOL pollution cases, environmental crimes, DWI/DUI, drugs, assault and family violence.

Mr. Romano is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts, the Southern District of Texas and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
